The government will order an inquiry on the defamatory and malicious posters put up against Sri Aurobindo Ashram and those responsible for it will be brought to book.

This assurance was given by Lieutenant Governor Virendra Kataria, when a delegation of Ashram members led by Gautam Chaterjee called on him and complained about the posters.

According to official communication from Raj Nivas, the Lieutenant Governor, after hearing them, assured that an impartial inquiry by an officer not below the rank of a Superintendent of Police will be ordered and the culprit dealt with sternly.

The Lieutenant Governor asked the members to co-operate with the inquiry and assured them that any baseless smear campaign or malicious propaganda against the Ashram will not be tolerated.

The posters carrying serious allegations and pictorial representations of trustees have been pasted all across the town including post office wall, bus stand, market, main thoroughfares. These posts are also illegal as they do not contain the name of the printing press.

The act is suspected to be the handiwork of a section of Ashram inmates who are at loggerheads with the Ashram trustees and have been finding fault and seeking their removal.
